Erotica Organizers Cancel U.K. Consumer Show

LONDON — Organizers of Erotica, the London consumer adult entertainment show that is the largest of its kind in the U.K., say they have canceled the 2014 show.

Erotica 2014 was scheduled to take place in November at London’s Tobacco Dock venue, but organizers say they have been hamstrung by decisions made by local officials.

“We are not happy with the venue or the limited licensing options available to us by Tower Hamlets' council and have decided not to proceed any further with plans for this year’s show,” organizers said in a letter to exhibitors.

The letter, disseminated to exhibitors along with a refund check, also said that organizers hope to work with them again in the future. Erotica's website, Erotica-UK.com, was offline at XBIZ post time.

Launched in 1997, Erotica's organizers claimed success following the show’s move across London to Tobacco Dock in 2013.

They said 20,000 visited the event that was held in late October over three days. At last year's show there were 88 exhibitors and 93 shows across seven stages.
