Smash Pictures Taps Will Ryder to Direct 'American Hustle XXX'

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Veteran director Will Ryder has been selected by Smash Pictures to helm “American Hustle XXX,” a big budget parody of the Oscar-nominated Hollywood blockbuster, the studio announced.

The spoof is described as a sexy comedy with a dramatic feel that exposes the life and sexual exploits of con artists, politicians and mobsters.

Currently in pre-production and in the last week of casting, Smash Pictures is projecting an April release of what it feels can be a major contender for industry awards next season.

"Will Ryder is the best director in the business at making these types of movies. His track record proves it and I'm happy to say we went out and got him," Stuart Wall, Smash Pictures vice president said.

Ryder is bringing his entire team from his production label X-Play to create the production, including veteran producer Scott David.

"When Smash Pictures approached me about doing ‘American Hustle XXX’ it was not a quick decision because we make blockbusters that win awards and truly, that is not an easy thing to do so I had to know they were as committed to victory as we are," Ryder noted.

The director added that creating parodies is what has driven his numerous successes in the genre, and that he’s looking forward to another blockbuster.

"We’ve never made a movie with Smash Pictures before and I’m confident that our work together on ‘American Hustle XXX’ will result in one of the year's most entertaining movies."

Smash said it will announce the full cast once the audition process is complete.Interested actors and agents can email jeff@allmediaplay.com with photos or links.
