Doc Johnson’s Super Hung Heroes Hits Mainstream

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Doc Johnson has made its way into the hearts of sex toy aficionados, comic book collectors and movie fans alike with its Super Hung Heroes range.

“Since the Super Hung Heroes teaser announcements, the buzz has been steadily growing. This line has captured the imaginations of fans worldwide. The impact of our design, presentation, and promotional efforts is evident in the demand we’ve experienced; we’ve already run production on the line three times so far, just to keep up.” said Victoria Bowman-Steinour, Doc Johnson’s director of marketing and public relations. “This is one of our most successful silicone product launches and we’re excited to build upon the brand with heroic new additions in 2014.”

The collection has been spotlighted by several mainstream media outlets, including Vice magazine.

Vice included Super Hung Heroes in its latest issue as part of staff writer Nick Gazin’s regular column Comic Book Love-In — the review covers the line of products, links to the Doc Johnson website and features a photo of all four heroes.

Before the review was posted, Gazin and fellow writer Drew Millard made an Instagram video of Millard juggling the pieces for their 3,300 Instagram and 6,000 Twitter followers.

“The Vice website receives more than 4 million unique visitors per month, with page views regularly exceeding 20 million each month,” the company said. “Vice Magazine has international distribution in 25 countries, with each free issue reaching a circulation of more than 1.2 million copies. Recently, Vice concluded the first season of their breakout documentary series on HBO; the critical acclaim and high-ratings earned Vice a second season which is already in production.”

In August, film director Kevin Smith’s weekly podcast with comedian/radio host Ralph Garman, Hollywood Babble On, read aloud each product description while images of the products were shown to its in-studio audience at The Hollywood Improv.

The podcast is the No.2 entertainment podcast on the Stitcher network and has reached more than 500,000 listeners. Garman. Later, in September, Smith dedicated more than six minutes of the show to telling the story of how Doc Johnson almost got him in trouble with a comic-book-themed box filled with the iconic dildos; the story starts at 6:12.

Executive Editor Emily McCombs and her coworkers boast a combined 9,100 Instagram followers and more than 40,700 Twitter followers. The xoJane website touts 3.5 million monthly readers.

Fangirl site, TheMarySue.com teased about its “special delivery” on the site’s Twitter account and the recipient staff writer’s personal account. The site’s full post about their Super Hung Heroes kit includes a direct link to Doc Johnson’s SHH landing page and six photos of the unboxing.

TheMarySue has a dedicated 1.75 million unique monthly visitors and more than 15.3 million page views a month; they reach more than 28,000 fans on Twitter and have more than 26,000 brand followers on Facebook.
