Las Vegas Strip Hotel Gift Shops May Soon Sell Sex Toys

LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas Strip resort hotel gift shops may soon be able to sell sex toys and novelties.

Earlier this month, the Clark County Zoning Commission asked its staff to draft an ordinance amending the language of Chapter 30.08 of the county code, according to the Laughlin Nevada Times.

Chapter 30.08 would be amended to allow some resort hotel gift shops the ability to devote a percentage of their retail space to sell sex toys and novelties. The proposed language would include only those resort hotels located on Las Vegas Boulevard South between Sahara Avenue and St. Rose Parkway.

Caesars Entertainment attorney Tabitha Fiddyment, in a letter to the county to justify the company's application, said that the "Las Vegas Strip has become the go-to destination for bachelor and bachelorette party celebrations (e.g.: the movie series 'The Hangover').

"Instead of sending its guests to the adult overlay area of Las Vegas, Caesars would like to be able to sell a limited amount of these items on site,” she said.

After the amended ordinance is drafted, the zoning commission will further review it.
