VALENCIA, Calif. — Girlfriends Films announced its first foray into cable broadcast today with its own channel offering a lesbian-sex lineup launching Oct. 1.
The channel, named Girlfriends Films, is available from LFP Broadcasting and New Frontier Media Inc. The creators of famed Hustler TV are selling Girlfriends Films to all current and future affiliates as a linear channel and VOD service.
“Girlfriends Films is a terrific addition to our portfolio of channel offerings,” says Hustler President Michael Klein. “We’re confident its quality content will attract a large and dedicated audience.”
Beginning Oct. 1, cable and satellite viewers may contact their service provider to launch Girlfriends Films. Sexy new movies will be added monthly to the linear channel and weekly to the VOD service.
“This will be a terrific attention-getter and brand-builder for us,” says Girlfriends Films owner Dan O’Connell. “Having a Girlfriends Films branded channel will certainly help build our presence in a number of other important markets with other products.”
O’Connell continues, “When I started the company, I knew we could lead the lesbian niche, but never thought we’d get to the point where we’d have our cable and satellite channel. This feels like we’ve left Earth and are planting our flag on the moon. We have over 400 Girlfriends Films’ lesbian movies – the largest library of its kind – and are making more each month, so we are definitely set to feed the machine.”
“We worked with Hustler and LFP before, and I’ve long thought they are the best and most forward-thinking company in the adult industry,” O’Connell says. “Their acquisition of New Frontier Media was the best business move I’ve seen in along time. They just seem to get everything right.”
Channels from LFP Broadcasting and New Frontier Media, like Hustler TV, XTSY and Juicy, are carried by cable and satellite programming providers around the U.S. and may be seen in over 55 countries around the world. Girlfriends Films will be marketed to all those territories.
Girlfriends Films Vice President Moose said that a Girlfriends Films-branded channel is something the company has been working towards for years.
