XTV Parent Expands Into Europe, Seeks More Adult Content

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — Radium Ventures is making a big push outside the U.S. as it plans on marketing its XTV and ITVN brands in the U.K. and Germany, XBIZ has learned.

Radium Ventures’ XTV brand was the first all-adult Internet protocol TV service. The company offers mainstream programming, but its cornerstone still is adult on its XTV and ITVN networks.

Radium CEO Charles Prast told XBIZ that the company is beginning its European distribution plan in September. The company, since the beginning of the year, has been signing customers up in Asia.

“There’s limited availability for adult content in those countries, and we think that ITVN is an excellent source for niche content,” Prast said.

In Germany and the U.K., “we see growth of our product to reach up to 50,000 customers in 12 to 18 months,” Prast said.

With the increase in distribution, Prast said, so does its wealth of content. The company recently signed content deals with Wicked Pictures and Danni, among other studios.

“We’re active in acquiring additional studio content,” said Prast, who noted that interested adult companies can contact Fabian Citraro at fcitraro@itvn.com.

The Asian and European distributor agreements are substantial for Radium. Two partners have invested more than $800,000 with their respective launches. Radium will operate its European unit from offices in Luxembourg.

With its proprietary video-on-demand technology, XTV and ITVN customers connect a set-top box to an existing broadband router, plug in the set-top connector to a television set and subscribe to the VOD channels.

While prices vary for its offerings, adult-channel bundles cost $29.95 a month, with an additional $99.95 for the set-top box.

The company plans on continued revenue growth as its subscriptions grow.

To do so, Prast said, ITVN continues to roll out new channels.

Last week, Radium lined up the Starz 15-channel network, which includes Encore, in a four-year agreement.

ITVN also offers Setanta Sports, LacrosseTV, Pulse, Silver Screen and ITVN Karaoke channels.
