“Directing is something I wanted to do since I entered the business about two years ago,” Cummz told XBIZ. “When I signed with Zero Tolerance, I let Greg [Alves, Zero Tolerance President] know right away that I wanted to direct. As I’ve been on sets and photo shoots, I learned about shadows and proper lighting, body angles, positions and other things directors and photographers pay attention to. I wanted to know all the details.”
For Cummz’s maiden directing effort, Zero Tolerance let her do all the casting. Cummz said she wanted to find girls that she was familiar with and who she knew would deliver on camera.
“Face Invaders” stars Sativa Rose, Taryn Thomas, Jenaveve Jolie, Jada Fire, Eva Angelina, Havana Ginger, Dililah Strong, Jenna Presley, Rita Faltoyano, Hillary Scott, Missy Monroe, Kylee King, Cummz and male talent Saz-One.
While porn fans might be jaded over having the latest starlet direct an adult film, Cummz was quick to point out how involved she was in the project from start to finish. Mike Quasar was on set with Cummz to assist in the movie’s more technical aspects, and Nate Liquor worked as second camera.
“Everyone at Zero Tolerance was really supportive of my desire to direct — they took me seriously, and it shows in the quality of the movie,” Cummz said. “It [directing] wasn’t harder or easier than I had thought. I was prepared, and felt confident in my abilities to direct something that had kink without the sleaze.
For her next project behind the lens, Cummz is helming an all-girl title with no toys, which she is in the process of casting.
Cummz said she wants this movie to feature “pin-up style girls that really, genuinely like having sex with other girls.” The movie, which shoots in Los Angeles on Sept. 12-13, has yet to be named and tentatively stars Naomi, Kelly Wells, Tory Lane, Riley Mason, Lexi Belle, Mary Jane, Charlotte Stokely, Alektra Blue, Satine Phoenix and Cummz.
“I’m really happy with the way my first movie came out,” Cummz said. “The editing and camera work are really good, and I can only grow and get better as a director. I hope porn fans everywhere love my movies.”
