Cherry Boxxx Nabs U.S. Rights to ‘Killergram’ Series

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Cherry Boxxx Pictures has struck a deal with European distributor Playhouse giving the company exclusive U.S. distribution rights for Playhouse’s “Killergram” series.

The deal covers the existing “Killergram” catalog as well as all new releases.

Cherry Boxxx Vice President Allen Gold said the “Killergram” movies, which feature all-European casts, enable the company to offer retailers fresh content in a wide array of genres that he terms “high-style reality porn.”

“The series complements our own productions by bringing in new faces, new talent, a different director,” Gold told XBIZ. “People [U.S producers] are caught in a whirlpool of sameness. People want something different. These are girls that haven’t been seen in the U.S. before. Even the male talent is new. Plus, the packaging is great, and it’s got a catchy name.”

The packaging Gold refers to is a hardcore box cover softcore O-card, a cardboard sleeve that can be slipped over the box cover, allowing retailers to decide whether they prefer to display the softer or harder version.

As for the content itself, Gold describes it as harder than domestically produced Cherry Boxxx movies “without crossing the line or getting anyone in trouble.”

Gold said the company will release the first “Killergram” title in mid September, adding that the company will ship at least one new title every week, with each volume following a different theme.

“Killergram” began as a small website launched in 2002 by a real U.K. swinger couple, including popular Indian performer Anjali, who expanded into DVD production in 2005. Gold said that beyond the obvious swinging and Indian niches covered by “Killergram,” the series also features interracial, MILF and other content themes.
