LOS ANGELES — Toni Ribas, the veteran performer/director from Spain, has finalized a deal to direct for Elegant Angel, which was the first company to ever hire him as a director in 2001.
Ribas on Monday shot the first scene of the new deal for “Swimsuit Calendar Girls 2013,” capturing Kortney Kane in a tryst with James Deen in Malibu.
The Spanish star has directed more than 90 movies in the past 12 years, including nine volumes of “Hardcore Innonence” for Elegant Angel from 2001-03.
“I’m very happy and very excited,” Ribas told XBIZ. “I go a long way back with Elegant Angel and now I think the circle is complete. I thought my best choice was to go back to Elegant Angel. I really like the style of their movies. It’s very much what I like to shoot. I always thought it would be perfect if I could come back to Elegant.”
Ribas is also the reigning XBIZ Male Foreign Performer of the Year with more than 700 movie credits as talent in a career that started in the late ’90s. Now a permanent resident of L.A., he said conversations with Elegant Angel owner Patrick Collins accelerated after Collins recently signed a directing deal with Asa Akira, the 2012 XBIZ Female Performer of the Year. Not only is Ribas the lead videographer for Akira, he's also her husband.
“Of course Patrick and I go way back,” Ribas said. “I think I can really bring a lot of the things I’ve learned in other places back here. I like to do high-end gonzo style and make the girls look beautiful. There are a lot of expectations for me here. I think I can make some great movies for them.”
Ribas said his non-exclusive deal calls for one movie per month starting with “Swimsuit Calendar Girls 2013,” which is scheduled for release in July. He previously directed Kane in 2012 for “Private Specials 54: Sex Boat 2” from Magik View Entertainment/Private Media.
“I brought her to Europe for a shoot last year. She looks amazing. I feel like she’s a perfect Swimsuit Calendar Girl,” Ribas continued. “I shot her with James Deen in a great scene. They had great chemistry.”
Ribas said that Anikka Albrite and Teal Conrad would also be featured in the movie, with top male talent such as Manuel Ferrara and Mick Blue.
“There will be a different guy in every scene,” Ribas said, noting he will perform in one scene. “I hope to continue some of the lines that Elegant Angel has successfully shot, and I hope to keep up the same quality and bring something fresh and a new point-of-view too.”
