An investigation by Denver police detectives into the rash of adult bookstore robberies yielded a single name: Joseph Edwards.
Officers from Denver, Colorado Springs and the metro-area Fugitive Location and Apprehension Group joined forces to arrest Edwards, who was taken into custody without incident after police observed him getting into his car, which was parked on East Uintah Street in Denver.
“We're pleased we have this guy in custody," Detective John White of the Denver police department said. "We believe he's involved with the robberies, and we're not looking for additional suspects at this point in time."
Two of the robberies Edwards is suspected of perpetrating involved the use of a firearm. Area police stepped-up their efforts to apprehend the bandit after he fired a gun in two separate robberies. Although the gun was discharged inside the two adult bookstores, no one was hurt.
The crime wave hit stores in Colorado Springs, Denver and Commerce City, Colo.
There is no word yet on when Edwards is expected to be arraigned. He is being held for investigation of aggravated robbery.
Police did not say why Edwards allegedly targeted adult bookstores.
