Playboy to Begin Search for ‘Women of Poker’ Series

LOS ANGELES — Poker and adult entertainment, they go hand in hand.

That’s what Playboy Entertainment had in mind when it teamed up with PlayersNetwork.com for the “Playboy’s Women of Poker” TV series that is slated to debut later this year.

On Monday, the company rolled out a search for Playboy-quality models who have an interest in playing cards.

“It’s a lot like our other searches we do throughout the year,” Playboy spokesman Matt Kalinowski said. “But instead of searching for a Home Depot girl, we’re looking for women who really can play a hand.”

Six women who accumulate the most points through their poker and modeling skills at the final event will become members of Playboy’s Poker Team. The women later will attend parties at the Playboy Mansion, play in charity tournaments and appear in Playboy Magazine or on Playboy.com as Cybergirls.

Women interested in the contest should register on the Players Network Players Network website and then participate in one of five regional qualifying Texas Hold’em tournaments held throughout the U.S.

A total of 30 beautiful women who have what it takes to model for Playboy — six finalists from each of the five regionals — will win a trip to Las Vegas to compete in the televised finals.

Playboy’s Alta Loma Entertainment division is co-producing the “Playboy’s Women of Poker.” That unit delivers content across all platforms, including TV series such as “The Girls Next Door,” “Party at the Palms” and the documentary feature film “Bullets Over Hollywood.”

PlayersNetwork is a publicly held company that produces and distributes original content for its own VOD Channel on Comcast, its DVD home video unit and PlayersNetwork.com.
