Sunny Leone's 1st Live Indian Performance Set for New Years Eve

NEW DELHI — Adult star Sunny Leone will be performing her first live dance performance in India on New Years Eve at Studio 169 in New Delhi.

At a press conference announcing the performance last week Leone made no apologies for her porn career and said that she hopes people in India would see that there is more to her than just the adult movie actress.

“I am aware that I have a particular image here. There is a perception about me. But I don't really worry about it. I am very confident about myself. I don't want to change anyone's mindset. I don't care what they think about me. But I am hopeful that it will change with time,” Leone said.

The star’s show kicks off with a red carpet party at Hotel Lalit, Barakhamba Road in New Delhi that's being touted as India’s grandest New Year's Eve. A cast of international dancers and a DJ will also be on hand.

Leone, who made her film debut in Pooja Bhatt-directed "Jism 2" said she wants to be taken seriously in Bollywood despite being pigeonholed as a porn star.

“I am just one film old. But I am ready to learn, I am a good learner. I want people to take me seriously,” Leone said. “I want to be offered good roles in film so that I get the opportunity to prove myself. I am a no-drama person and I want to work with people who are like that.”

Leone’s next screen appearance is in Ek Kapoor’s supernatural thriller “Ragini MMS 2” set for a January 15 release.

Last October, the 31-year old performer signed a three-picture deal with Alumbra Entertainment that begins next spring.  Although no details on the movies have been relased, Leone will top line all three features.

Leone’s Indian “Q Score” got a major bump this year when she came out on top in Google's annual Zeitgeist list as the most searched personality. She also ranked 4th in the overall list of top searches in the country.

She was also named Yahoo’s Year in Review 2012 most searched Indian celebrity online.
