LOS ANGELES — Eighties porn star Veronica Hart has been cast in the Los Angeles production of "The Deep Throat Sex Scandal," opening Jan. 31 at the Zephyr Theatre in West Hollywood.
The play, directed by Jerry Douglas and penned by David Bertolino, details the making-of and political aftermath of the infamous 1972 adult feature, starring Linda Lovelace and Harry Reems.
Set in 1976 Memphis, "The Deep Throat Sex Scandal" revisits a series of federal cases that found Reems and the film's mob-affiliated producers the Perainos convicted on obscenity charges.
Hart will be joined on stage by porn veterans Herschel Savage and Ron Jeremy — playing District Court Judge Harry Walker Wellford. No word on who Hart and Savage will portray, nor which actors have been cast in the roles of Lovelace and Reems.
"The Deep Throat Scandal" will also feature guest appearances from Amber Lynn, Nina Hartley and "The Devil In Miss Jones" star Georgina Spelvin. Preview shows are set for Jan. 24-27. For more information, visit DeepThroatThePlay.com.
