LOS ANGELES — Norway's largest mainstream newspaper has just named adult star Vicky Vette the No. 1 "followed" Norwegian in the world on Twitter, running a five-page story, pictorial and video.
In a story called "Vicky is Norway's Twitter Queen," VG notes that Vette has more than twice as many followers as the Prime Minister — Jens Stoltenberg. Vette was born in Stavanger, Norway, moving to Canada as a child. She has returned to Norway to visit after becoming an adult star. It was a stellar weekend for the popular blonde who just picked up nominations by XBIZ for Web Star of the Year and Best Performer Website last Friday. She is the second most followed active adult star on Twitter with more than 376,000 followers.
The front page story caps a memorable year for Vette. Among other things, she is the reigning Miss Freeones (April 2012), current XBIZ Web Star of the Year (January 2012) and Nightmoves Hall of Fame recipient (October 2012). She was also received a four-page spread in Maxim Argentina earlier this year. This month Vette became a spokesperson for Red Light Center and also had a mold of her mouth (the 'Vicky Quickie') released worldwide by toy giant Doc Johnson. Vette runs the popular VNA Network of Pornstar sites with stars such as Nikki Benz, Puma Swede, Julia Ann, Sara Jay & others and just launched a live cam-show network of solo girl sites.
"I'd be lying if I said getting a front page spread in Norway's biggest mainstream paper isn't a thrill — especially clothed and not in the crime section," Vette said.
"Twitter and social networking is revolutionizing how we communicate and it's opening doors for adult stars like me that previously have been closed. I am surprised no one from adult has yet to hit a million followers… hopefully I can reach that number before I become a GILF."
Vette added, "I want to thank XBIZ and the nomination committee for recognizing me. It's the first time I have gotten two nominations in one year from XBIZ. It's gratifying to get recognition for the hard work that goes into staying relevant and fresh in the internet world."
Vette will be appearing with a number of the VNA Girls at the AEE convention in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Casino, Jan. 17-19. She also performs weekly online for website members of her official site VickyatHome.com.
