A typical package with 10 musical tracks on one CD costs approximately $100. AdultFilmTracks.net also can produce custom singles or full albums for adult producers wanting a completely unique and original soundtrack, and those prices vary per project. All of King’s tracks are non-exclusive, meaning a few adult film producers can purchase the rights to the same song. AdultFilmTracks.net does not charge any percentages for royalties.
Even the most pedestrian porn fan is familiar with the wakka-chikka-wakka-chikka guitar vamp that is stereotypically featured in most adult movies.
“I just bundled up a bunch of the tracks that I have in my collection, put them all together, and started surfing the Internet just to see how many other people were actually doing what I was thinking,” King told XBIZ. “I didn’t find too many other sites or articles about what I wanted to do, so I figured what the heck. I would love to think I could do my part to break the mold in terms of typical adult entertainment music.”
AdultFilmTracks.net seeks to innovate the landscape of adult film soundtracks by providing fresh grooves and hot beats to accompany the on-screen bump and grind.
“Now don't get me wrong; I get it!” King said. “I know music is not the focal point of adult films, and I understand that it is not the reason people buy their porn. But if you can improve something, why leave it be? Adult content creators are always looking for ways to increase the overall quality of their product, and why should it stop with the type of camera used or the type of marketing or advertising?”
King honed his love for music growing up in Michigan and became a performing rap artist in Portland, Ore., which he said had a vibrant local music scene. King produces the tracks from his home studio, which includes a Cakewalk Sonar mixer, a PC, keyboards, Alesis QSR and music production software.
“There’s always room for the improvement of the musical quality in adult films,” King said. “And while there are a million talented musicians honing their craft, there is a reason we all have that cheesy porn music sound in our heads the second it is mentioned. I’m trying to do my part to change that perception.”
