Under the terms of the deal, Platinum Blue will distribute its first Passion title — “American Sex Idol” — beginning June 21. The film stars Jessica Jaymes, Jessica Drake, and Dick Smothers Jr. Platinum Blue also will handle the ongoing DVD distribution of “Sex Down and Dirty 2,” “House of Harlots,” and “Forum 10.”
“These are well-shot, fun, sex-filled films,” Platinum Blue President Skye Blue said. “[They are] similar to movies I would have shot myself. Passion Productions has a premium product line that we feel will fit in well with Platinum Blue’s own titles, as well as the great amateur and wall-to-wall titles and our hardcore features that appeal to couples.”
The deal, brokered by Alex Hill of CED, marks something of a coup for Platinum Blue. In effect, Platinum Blue and CED have partnered to distribute the Passion titles, with Platinum Blue handling the DVD side and CED sticking to what it knows best, cable distribution.
“Skye Blue is a very well-known director, and her company is a strong up-and-comer that has a great reputation for making deals with world wide distribution in DVD,” Hill said. “Platinum Blue's strength is in moving physical product, while CED is strongest in cable distribution.”
