“Pre-orders have reached over 5,000,” Gold told XBIZ. “The style of animation is so different and that’s why it does well. It’s not quite a Japanese style of animation, but more dimensional. This style of animation is more computer driven.
“Pornomation 2” releases June 23.
Cherry Boxxx worked with the creators of the original movie, husband and wife team Sagemonn and Karynna, who bill their style of animation as a “lyrical erotic vision.”
“This series is a one-of-a-kind experience in an industry where there’s too much product and too much of the same type of product,” Gold said. “Our incredible sales figures, and winning best alternative release, proves the fans, retailers and critics all know this is not your typical animated adult feature. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
In the sequel, a sex slave named Zuma is purchased by a robot creature and trained to become a female gladiator. Once her training is finished, Zuma is released to fight robots and other creatures.
“PornoMation 2” is animated with a complete narrative storyline as opposed to the series of vignettes in the first volume. Gold has compared the animation quality in the production to that of Disney or Pixar — it’s that good, he says.
“You’re not just getting an adult cartoon here,” Gold said. “This is state-of-the-art adult animation with an incredible storyline. [‘PornoMation 2’ has] more chapters than any other release in this genre, and retailers are already creating a section for these titles.”
“PornoMation” was Cherry Boxxx’s best-selling DVD of the year in 2005.
“There’s no mistaking this for a cartoon or any of those other attempts at animation currently making the rounds in the adult entertainment field,” Gold said. “‘PornoMation 2’ will achieve cult status right alongside the prequel and the extra money this production costs proves more than worthwhile.”
Gold also said that comic book stores are interested in carrying the sequel because of its appeal to comics’ fans and gamers.
