Gay Porn Star Nick Hunter Discharged from Navy ROTC

FLORIDA — Gay porn performer Nick Hunter — real name Andrew Koch — is facing discharge from the U.S. Navy ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corps) program for working in adult films.

The 20-year-old midshipman was placed on involuntary leave on July 27 while a Navy Personnel Review Board investigated him for “an alleged serious moral offense that brings discredit upon the naval service.”

In a letter to the Board, Hunter wrote that he “never meant to disrespect the Navy, never appeared in uniform, and never associated his private work in pornography with the Navy in any way.”

Despite Hunter’s plea, the Board decided last week that his porn career was “inconsistent with what the Navy deems morally acceptable.”

It also ruled that Hunter, who is in his third year of a four-year scholarship with the NROTC, would be held responsible for paying back all tuition and educational expenses, an estimated total of $26,000.

Hunter, who has performed in scenes for CollegeDudes.com, MenOver30.com and BaitBuddies.com, told SouthFloridaGayNews.com that he performed in gay porn to make ends meet after being placed on leave by the NROTC for medical reasons.

“I just needed to support myself. It was never my intention to bring any discredit to the service,” Hunter told SFGN. “I never correlated my private conduct with my public service. I saw a disconnect between the two.”

Hunter has hired SFGN publisher and civil rights lawyer Norm Kent to appeal the Navy’s decision and to be allowed to complete the NROTC program. Kent has in the past represented gay servicemen discharged under the military's now defunct “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.
