CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Smash Pictures is reporting big preorder numbers for its upcoming parody “Fifty Shades of Grey: a XXX Adaptation.” The film, which ships next week, will be in stores on Sept. 20.
“This is by far our biggest film of the year,” Smash Pictures Vice President Stuart Wall said. “In pre-books alone we have 14,000 out the door. Never have we experienced a response to an adult film as this one. Customers are saying this just might pass up 'Pirates' from Digital Playground.”
“Fifty Shades of Grey: a XXX Adaptation” is directed by Jim Powers and stars Allie Haze and Ryan Driller as college virgin Anastasia Steele and kinky billionaire Christian Grey, the young couple at the heart of E.L. James' “Fifty Shades” book trilogy.
Costars include Julia Ann as Christian's one-time sex teacher, Elena (AKA: Mrs. Robinson), Alexis Ford as Anastasia's best friend Katherine Kavanaugh, Johnny Castle as Elliot Grey, Logan Pierce as Boy Toy and Jazlene Jade as Leila the Sub.
Though initially conceived as a three-in-one parody, "Fifty Shades of Grey: a XXX Adaptation" has generated such impressive pre-order numbers Smash Pictures is now moving forward with plans to produce a sequel based solely on James' third book "Fifty Shades Freed."
