'Dirty Bob' Debuts New Book About Porn Stars' Early Careers

LOS ANGELES — Bob Krotts, best known as “Dirty Bob” and one of the driving forces behind the XRCO Awards’ has released a new book titled “Naked Came the Pornstar.”

The book consists of candid interviews with 19 adult video performers in 188 pages, with more than 120 behind the scenes photos.

Krotts said the unedited conversations focus on the stars’ early careers and are often humorous, occasionally controversial and always sexy. They offer a rare glimpse back at the performers before their fame took control.

Some of the stars profiled include Danni Ashe, Lisa Ann, Alicia Rio, Houston, Leena, Nikki Sinn, Rebecca Bardoux and Taylor Wayne. Krotts said many were award-winners; two won Best Actress, and one [Ashe] according to the Guinness Book of Records is the Internet's most downloaded woman.

The book’s format is similar to Penelope Ashe's infamous 1969 novel “Naked Came the Stranger” in which 24 different writers each wrote a chapter to create a controversial and diverse book.

However, Krotts scrapped the idea of using other writers and instead pulled from his library of candid and revealing “Dirty Bob” interviews and experiences. The result is a book that still features 19 distinctly different voices, but maintains a more cohesive style.

“It still fits the original concept,” Krotts said. “It is a composite with each chapter featuring an intimate and revealing interview with a different performer. Since half of the interview is their voice, it's quite like having a chapter by each new author.”

The interviews come from an era when modern adult entertainment was still in its formative years, according to the author, “before big-name adult stars could rely on big companies or turn to their publicists to promote their videos, they had to get creative.”

“This was also before Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites made it simple to keep their name, face and thoughts in the public,” Dirty Bob said.

In addition to the interviews, the title includes two special introductions — one written by AVN founder Paul Fishbein, and the other by adult legend Ron Jeremy.

“I am very proud to have intros written by two true giants in the industry,” Krotts added. “This book is the result of years of hard work in the industry and the contributions of Paul and Ron are just a perfect way to compete the project.”

Krotts’ book is available in both paperback and electronic versions at Amazon.com.
