Vivid Casting for Classic 'Behind the Green Door' Remake

LOS ANGELES — Vivid Entertainment has scheduled a July 20 casting call to audition male and female talent for the remake of the landmark classic porn movie "Behind the Green Door."

McKenna Taylor [pictured right], the daughter of the famous adult star in the original film Marilyn Chambers, will help choose the actress who will play the lead female role.

Veteran director Paul Thomas will helm the new original screenplay production titled "The New Behind The Green Door."

"Vivid has already made best-selling movies based on 'Deep Throat,' 'The Devil in Miss Jones' and 'Debbie Does Dallas,' and with 'Behind the Green Door' we will have reprised all four of the iconic early adult films," said Steven Hirsch, founder and co-chairman.

He added, "The ‘70s are referred to as 'The Golden Age of Porn' and these four titles helped launch the porn business into the mainstream. 'Behind the Green Door' dug deep into the sexual side of human nature and took viewers to a place that no other adult film had gone before. We hope to achieve the same result with our remake."

Vivid said that the original "Behind the Green Door," released in 1972 and directed by brothers Artie and Jim Mitchell, is believed to be the first hardcore adult movie widely distributed in the U.S. and is credited with helping to establish a mainstream market for porn.

The film generated headlines when it was revealed that Chambers was the same beautiful blonde model seen smiling and holding a freshly diapered baby on boxes of Ivory Snow laundry detergent that were on the shelves of millions of homes across the country, until they were hurriedly recalled by the manufacturer.

Vivid said it obtained the rights to "Behind the Green Door" earlier this year.

Following the selection of a cast, Vivid will start production of the remake in September and a release date will be announced.
