James Deen Helps Raise Kickstarter Cash for New Mag

LOS ANGELES — The James Deen machine keeps rolling. This time, the star and soon-to-be Hollywood actor donated a special one-of-a-kind, personalized PG-13 phone message for contributors to a new Kickstarter campaign.

The Deen swag was created by a group of editors fired from the website Good.is who then decided to start their own one-shot magazine called “Tomorrow.”

Deen's message helped raise the start-up cash for the the publication that describes itself as “a magazine about creative destruction” and “what’s on the cusp."

The new team of publishing hipsters raised their target $15,000 in just five hours, and now has 835 backers with close to $23,000 with 28 days left to go on Kickstarter.

For $500 or more, investors in the new publication got the mag, stickers, tote bag, a personalized online-dating profile consultation from Tomorrow editor and sex and relationships writer Amanda Hess, and of course the Deen message.

No doubt Deen's upcoming role opposite Lindsay Lohan in the mainstream film "Canyons" helped the cause. Deen spoke with XBIZ TV about his new Hollywood casting earlier this month.

A post on Tomorrow’s Tumblr website said it’s not stopping with the first round of Kickstarter cash and is still accepting funds to pay staff, improving its site and hosting an “epic launch party.”
