Brooke Haven Makes Horror Film Debut in 'Detention'

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Horror fans were served “Detention” this weekend, a campy slasher from “Torque” director Joseph Kahn about a group of high school kids trying to survive aliens, supernatural killers and prom.

“Detention,” which premiered to mixed reviews at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, is former adult star Brooke Haven’s horror film debut. Haven plays a victim of a monster called the Beauty Beast, portrayed by none other than porn icon Ron Jeremy.

“It’s a movie within a movie,” Haven told XBIZ. “Ron Jeremy played Beauty Beast, this crazy vampire-monster-looking character, and I was his victim, but I played myself. I had some good people behind me that helped negotiate my deal so it also got me my SAG/AFTRA credits. It all worked out really well.”

“Detention” is Haven’s biggest mainstream gig to date. The busty stunner is part of a cast that includes “Hunger Games” star Josh Hutcherson, comedian Dane Cook, “Chuck’s” Jesse Heiman and Hollywood up-and-comer Shanley Caswell.

“I do remember, when I was driving to the set, I did puke all over myself,” Haven recalled. “That had never happen to me before; I’m not the type to get nervous. But, it was one of the bigger movies that I’ve ever worked on so you never know.”

Haven needn’t have worried. Her experience with the film’s director proved to be positive and shooting opposite Jeremy was as familiar and comfortable as ever. “This was my first time meeting and working for Joseph Kahn and I thought he was a really great director to work for,” she said. “Working with Ron … is always the same experience. It’s Ron! He slept most of the time we were on set.”

Haven, who lists the Lionsgate “SAW” franchise and the 2008 Swedish vampire drama “Let the Right One In” as some of her favorite horror films, said she hopes to land more roles in horror and mainstream.

“My heart now lies with doing mainstream stuff,” she said. “It’s just about trying to balance that with school and everything else, but it’s fun; it’s a challenge.”

Haven has starred in more than 300 adult titles. She can be followed on Twitter.
