VSDA and iDEA members can nominate themselves or other member retailers who have demonstrated “excellence in video store operations and industry activities” during the past year.
“The Retailer of the Year Awards allow us to highlight the best practices in video retailing and those retailers who are successfully applying them in their businesses,” VSDA Chairman Bob Geistman said. “And they are particularly meaningful because the winners are chosen by their peers and people with whom they do business.”
VSDA presents awards in various categories, including Non-Traditional Retailer, Online Retailer, Independent Video Store, Small Chain Video Store and Mid-Sized Video Store Chain. Winners will be announced at VSDA’s Home Entertainment 2006, taking place July 11-13 in Las Vegas.
Added this year, the iDEA Chairman’s Award will honor specific accomplishments, such as category development or sell-through.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for retailers to share their success stories,” Jim Loperfido, chair of the board of trustees of the iDEA, said. “In addition to gaining recognition, recipients of the Retailer of the Year Awards go on to serve as model establishments for other retailers and can provide a great deal of guidance for stores that are seeking to increase profitability.”
The nomination form for the Retailer of the Year Awards is available at VSDA.org. Nominees are evaluated based on business practices, operational policies, marketing and merchandising programs, customer service and involvement in VSDA/iDEA.
