LOS ANGELES — Veteran producer/director Raul Cristian discusses how he is combating the glut of free porn on the Internet by ramping up the production schedule on his real-time porn performance site, LiveGonzo.com, in a new interview posted on YouTube.
Cristian, the CEO and president of LiveGonzo.com and award-winning production company Cruel Media, made the video in an effort to get his message out to the masses about the impact of his venture.
Cristian said that rather than feel sorry for the slumping DVD market that’s been heavily affected by the emergence of free tube sites, he took action, launching in March 2010 what he now bills as “the most unique website in the world.”
“The way I’m looking at it now is, ‘thank you so much guys,’ because I’m more popular than ever,” Cristian said in the video.
Cristian reasoned that the tube sites have simply created a “huge marketing tool” for him to increase his brand exposure.
“This industry has to find out a way to survive in this environment right now. Our job is to do something so good and so cheap that's still worth it to pay for. This is extraordinarily difficult,” he explained. “But the bottom line is we are the most popular now. Pornography was never as popular as it is today, thanks to tube sites — that’s fucking crazy, no?”
Cristian said he believes the system he created, which he was already test marketing in late 2009, is “the one way I can compete with everything free."
“We’re broadcasting something live with the best male talent, the best female talent and the best production,” he said.
The native of Romania went on to say that the chat element of LiveGonzo.com is the lifeblood of the site, as fans get to interact with the directors and performers.
He said from the first scene, when there were 40 people in the chat, he realized “that this has to be fun.”
Cristian also pointed to his hand-selected team as being integral to the success of LiveGonzo.com.
“The technical and artistic parts are equally important,” he said. “My job is to be the glue. … Without our team we’re nothing. My team is everything I’ve got. I choose them extraordinarily carefully. Nobody leaves my company.”
This week’s Live Gonzo schedule started today with a three-girl show that began at 12:30 PST featuring Eva Angelina, Destiny Dixon and Lyla Storm. Tomorrow at 12:30 PST Lisa Ann and Angel Vain will meet Manuel Ferrara and Erik Everhard.
Cristian released the YouTube clip on the eve of the beginning of his new distribution deal with Jules Jordan Video for a line of Live Gonzo DVDs.
The first Live Gonzo DVD releases through Jordan will be “High Class Ass” and “Big Booty Shake Down,” both due this month. “High Class Ass” features Kagney Linn Karter, Andy San Dimas, Katsuni, Maya Hills, and Misty Stone with Manuel Ferrara, Mr. Pete and Michael Stefano.
“Big Booty Shake Down” includes Alexis Texas, Kristina Rose, Jynx Maze, London Keyes, and Katja Kassin with Ferrara, Everhard and Stefano.
The DVDs alll contain five scenes and lots of BTS footage. In February, JJV and Live Gonzo will roll out “Big Titty Time” and “Anal Invitation” with stars such as Lisa Ann, Jenna Presley, Sophie Dee, Amy Ried and Chanel Preston in the mix.
Cristian this past weekend distributed special flyers at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas that offered one week of free access to LiveGonzo.com. He said similar promotions would be forthcoming.
