ASACP Goes to AOE Berlin

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The ASACP will be an AOE Berlin associate and partner this year.

AOE Berlin runs from April 24-26 in conjunction with World Telemedia 2006. Numerous mainstream and adult companies will be present, and their registration packets will include information about ASACP.

According to ASACP Executive Director Joan Irvine, this is part of ASACP’s growing effort to expand its outreach beyond the United States.

“Online child protection is an international issue,” Irvine said. “That point was driven home for me when I traveled to Belfast this past November, to attend the Virtual Global Taskforce’s conference on Protecting Children Online. ASACP is already receiving support from companies based outside the U.S., and that’s a trend we want to see continue.”

ASACP member companies based in Europe include title sponsors like E-PayCompany and, most recently, content provider Interclimax. However, a recent study by the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children indicates that many countries and governments lag behind in the fight against child pornography.

According to Irvine it is imperative that the online adult industry self-regulate.

“This industry has always been on the cutting edge of new technology and new business models,” Irvine said. “Now ASACP member companies are also helping lead the way when it comes to protecting kids.”
