Good Vibes Celebrates 6th Store Opening in Oakland With Kandi Burruss

SAN FRANCISCO — Good Vibrations has opened its sixth location in Oakland’s historic Lakeshore District and on Jan. 28 from 6-9 p.m. is celebrating its grand opening with a party featuring “Real Housewife of Atlanta” Kandi Burruss who will present her Bedroom Kandi luxury line from OhMiBod.

Burruss, a Grammy-winning songwriter, singer and producer, will be on hand to meet fans. Guests also can pick up free prizes, including Bedroom Kandi items, from Good Vibes’ Wheel of Pleasure.

Good Vibes’ newest location is situated on Lakeshore Avenue alongside boutiques and restaurants with access to parking and public transit. The company says it looks forward to bringing customers' experience to a new level for the greater Bay Area and Oakland in that location.

"We are so pleased and proud to be expanding our retail operations to serve Oakland, and invite all of our friends to join us for our grand opening party in January,” Good Vibes COO Jackie Strano said. “We are delighted to join the Lakeshore merchants and participate in this wonderful community. We have wanted to be in Oakland for a very long time — several of us live in Oakland and there is a lot to celebrate with store number six. We are thrilled that Kandi Burruss will be part of the fun at our official opening on January 28th, but come on by and say hi now!”

The Lakeshore store will be Good Vibrations' fifth in the Bay Area. Open in Mission District locations since 1977, the iconic retailer opened its second store in Berkeley in 1994; added a location in the Polk Street/Nob Hill neighborhood in 2003; and established an Eastern Seaboard store in Brookline, Massachusetts, a section of the greater Boston metropolitan area, in 2006.

Last December Good Vibrations opened its downtown store in San Francisco, near the Westfield shopping mall across from Bloomingdale’s.

According to Staff Sexologist/Chief Cultural Officer Carol Queen, PhD, who is the company's longest-serving staff member, "We have long served Oakland, and it feels so great to be in the heart of this vibrant, bustling community. There's no experience that compares to a visit to a truly sex-positive store like Good Vibrations, and this will allow us to do an even better job promoting pleasure, quality, and communication."

Good Vibes’ Lakeshore store is located at 3219 Lakeshore Ave., near Lake Merritt.
