CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Howard Levine, the 25-year industry sales veteran, told XBIZ Thursday he has wrapped principal photography on his directorial debut called “Super Porn.”
Levine shot the all-sex movie for Jama Productions and Pleasure Dynasty and it will be distributed by his own company Exile Distribution in January. Jama Productions is the executive producer on the project. Levine is the co-founder and president of sales for Exile, which launched in January of this year.
“After being in the business for 25 years I have seen a lot of different ways people shoot stuff,” Levine explained. “I’ve been a member of [the Screen Actors Guild] and [American Federation of Television and Radio Artists] since 1984 so I have a pretty good idea of how to shoot and what should be shot. I’ve just never had the opportunity to do it. Somebody gave me the opportunity and said, ‘Dude, if there’s anybody that knows fucking porn it should be you.’”
He added, “Since there’s not a lot of call for 56-year-old, overweight, balding, Jewish actors, I figured I could at least give it a shot directing something. And we shot something that’s just awesome.”
Levine said he took extra care in casting the movie, which includes interviews with each of the girls.
“We spent a lot of the budget on talent and being a fan myself I wanted to see the stars that are my favorite. So I shot it the way I really think the customer would like to see it,” he reasoned.
The cast for “Super Porn” includes XBIZ Award-winning performers Katsuni and Chanel Preston, along with Jynx Maze, Breanne Benson, Lexi Swallow and Melanie Rios. Male talent in “Super Porn” includes Evan Stone, Tom Byron, Tommy Gunn, and Jordan Ash. The DVD will also contain interviews with each male star.
“The whole point of ‘Super Porn’ is we’re spending a lot of money on talent and we wanted to put in the smoking hot chicks that are selling big right now that everybody is interested in,” Levine continued. “Every girl that’s in this has a killer interview and does an unbelievable scene.”
When he’s not selling adult product, Levine is often on a mainstream set. He has worked for the past four years on FX’s hit show “Sons of Anarchy” as both an actor and part-time technical director.
“I’m really good friends with one of the directors there, and it was encouraged by a couple people for me to go do this and try it,” he said. “I’ve stood there for the last three years just watching how they shoot stuff, how they block stuff, how they do it.”
Levine worked closely with veteran videographer Craig Daze on “Super Porn,” which will be an ongoing series.
“The first one came out better than I could ever dream — the sex scenes, the lighting, the sets, everything,” Levine said.
He’ll begin directing his second movie, “Ass Shakers and Ball Breakers,” next week, while “Super Porn 2” is also in pre-production with Jessie Andrews and Lily LaBeau among the cast members.
