LOS ANGELES — Six adult studios filed 10 porn BitTorrent suits since last Wednesday, displaying one of the highest number of claims in the industry's legal assault on consumers pirating content during a one-week period.
Elegant Angel, in the past week, was the leading litigating party with five suits filed in North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Arizona against about 100 John Doe defendants.
Just on Monday, Elegant Angel filed two federal suits. One of the suits was pitted against Does for sharing Elegant Angel's "Cuties 2."
So far, since October, Elegant Angel has waged an eye-popping 75 federal porn BitTorrent suits against more than 8,000 defendants.
Other studios filing suits include K-Beech Inc., which filed two suits in Arizona, and gay porn studio Raw Films Ltd., with two suits in Arizona and Virginia.
Hard Drive Productions, Burning Angel and First Time Video each had single suits in Illinois.
The suits against the Does attempt to seek their identities through their Internet service providers.
