Mary Carey’s First Legend Film Debuts in March

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Marey Carey’s first film to come out of her new contract with Legend Video will debut March 6, the company reported Monday.

The new film, “Mary Carey on the Rise,” stars Carey, Brooke Haven, Sandra Romain, Cindy Crawford and Katie Morgan, and was directed by Cash Markman.

Carey entered into a two-year, 12-film deal with Legend in December, after a nearly three-year relationship with Kick Ass Pictures.

“This is the story of Mary Carey the idealist,” Markman said. “A woman who is not satisfied with the lot her double D’s have given her. A woman who will titillate her way into the American psyche in the hopes of giving it a conscience while trying not to lose her own.”

Markman said the genesis for “Marey Carey on the Rise” came out of his dissatisfaction with the number of good roles for women in gonzo, a genre Carey is no stranger to. The point of his new film, he said, is to show the world “who Mary Carey really is.”

Hence the development of the “largely biographical” script for the film, which chronicles events that immediately followed Carey’s unsuccessful bid for the governorship of California in 2003.

Carey said the script-driven feature was a nice departure from the gonzo films she made previously.

“I loved shooting something that is completely different than what I have done for the last two years,” she said. “I feel rejuvenated. Reborn. It's like growing a second hymen.”

Carey also has said she plans to run again for the governorship of California in 2006. Her political campaign is expected to kick off this month.
