TORONTO, Ontario — Twenty awards in total, including four Honorable Mentions and four Honored Websites were handed out on Friday, during the Feminist Porn Awards, now in its sixth year.
"Good For Her began organizing the Feminist Porn Awards to celebrate the growing diversity of porn that continues to thrive," said Alison Lee, manager of Good for Her and the director of the Feminist Porn Awards. "Porn has expanded to include women and marginalized communities, and many people don’t know about the hot and artistic movies that are being made with a feminist sensibility. We are proud to promote these filmmakers, and excited about directing people to their work.”
The 2011 Feminist Porn Awards were hosted by performers Jane Luk and Ryan G. Hinds, with more than 450 guests that gathered at the Berkeley Church to toast those creating erotic work that showcases new and exciting vision of porn that also includes the political.
Starting in 2008, the Good For Her Feminist Porn Awards added a second night to its celebration: Public Provocative Porn: The Year’s Best in Feminist Film, giving audiences a chance to see films as well as the opportunity to engage with filmmakers in a panel discussion and question and answer period.
Held at the Bloor Cinema in Toronto, more than 300 people gathered to watch selections from Feminist Porn Award nominated works and works in progress.
