“The nominated films for the 2011 Feminist Porn Awards show the true diversity of feminist porn — from the educational and sultry ‘Oral Sex for Couples’ series by Jaiya, to the creative sexual pairings in Carlos Batts’ ‘Artcore,’ on to the taboo-busting Mommy is Coming from independent filmmaker Cheryl Dunye, all the way to the dynamic and androgynous performances of Drew Deveaux,” the company said. “These are all just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the talent and sharp erotic eye of the feminist porn creators in the 2011 nominees list.”
Started in 2006, The Feminist Porn Awards are produced by Good For Her, a Toronto, Canada based feminist sexuality education centre and sex store. This event was started with the goals of celebrating ethical, feminist porn, exposing this work to a larger audience, and creating community amongst filmmakers, performers and audience members.
Since starting the Feminist Porn Awards, Good For Her has handed out more than 70 awards to movies, short films, websites, directors, heartthrobs, boundary breakers and visionaries, while shining a light on the astoundingly sexy work of these feminist artists and filmmakers.
The Feminist Porn Awards will be presented April 15. The event is preceded by a launch party on April 13 at the Gladstone Hotel, and the Public.Provacative.Porn festival featuring directors and performers, including Carlos Batts, Cheryl Dunye and Drew Deaveaux. The event includes an into by Tristan Taormino.
