Penthouse 3D Channel to Debut on Astra

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Penthouse announced today that its 3D adult channel, Penthouse 3D, is set to debut March 1 on Europe’s Astra network.

Highlights of Penthouse 3D, which the company is calling the first 3D adult channel, include “100 percent full 3D native HD, 30 hours of refreshment monthly and programming that includes softcore and hardcore feeds.”

"We are very excited about the launch of the Penthouse 3D channel," said Marc Bell, CEO of FriendFinder Networks, which owns Penthouse.

"Our goal is always to deliver the latest technology on the world's best platform."

"Thanks to the increasing consumer acceptance of 3D, I am delighted to work with Penthouse to be able to satisfy the needs of the consumers and broadcasters alike who demand high quality, cutting edge entertainment backed by a solid and well established brand like Penthouse,” said Jacky Wauters, head of NOA Productions, Penthouse channels' European distribution partner, which made the deal with Astra.

"The start of Penthouse 3D represents another milestone in the development of ASTRA as key player in the 3D television market," said Ferdinand Kayser, president and chief executive of SES ASTRA.

Kayser said Astra is Europe’s “fastest growing hot spot for both direct-to-home and direct-to-cable distribution."

Penthouse 3D will be available on a daily basis from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. GMT on ASTRA 3B, 23, 5 degrees East.
