Sapphire Media Launches Hustler HD Channel

LOS ANGELES — Sapphire Media International, Europe's largest distributor of adult entertainment content, on Wednesday announced the launch of a new Hustler branded HD adult channel that will also support and deliver 3D content. Sapphire Media said this partnership confirms its commitment to HD and 3D formats for its rapidly expanding VOD service.

Hustler HD/3D will launch in March 2011 on the Hotbird satellite with a wide range of HD content, including the best-selling material from Hustler's varied library. The channel will also have access to some high-profile 3D productions such as the award-winning parody "This Ain't Avatar XXX" and Hustler’s soon-to-be-released “This Ain’t Ghostbusters XXX 3D” along with Sapphire's own in-house 3D product. The company will be working with distributors to showcase 3D content as the 3D TV market grows.

Stephanie Murdoch-Meyer, head of sales and distribution at Sapphire, said, "We have had a lot of success with our existing HD and 3D offerings on our VOD service and now feel the time is right for us to launch a similar linear channel. The market for HD and now 3D is growing rapidly and our customers want the range of content, the brands and the service that only Sapphire Media is able to offer."

Hustler president Michael H. Klein said, "With the huge slate of true HD productions that we currently have, and continue to produce monthly, along with our production of high budget true 3D features, the Hustler HD/3D channel will offer best of breed adult broadcasting offerings. Top stars and top directors, including the HD movies from the other top adult studios that we have the exclusive broadcast rights to, are sure to lead to high buy rates.”

Digiquest Electronics Limited will be handling the exclusive Smartcard distribution of the channel across Europe.
