Playboy’s Super Bowl Party Takes on Aviation Theme

DETROIT — Playboy is gearing up to throw a Super Bowl party by transforming a spacious 35,000-square-foot airport hangar into Playboy’s “Eight Mile High Club,” billed by the company as a “sultry aviation wonderland.”

This year Playboy’s Super Saturday Night on Feb. 4 will take partygoers on a travel adventure that will include parachute dancing girls, customized airplane snack carts and a sexy newsstand for guests to browse through. The event at Coleman A. Young International Airport on the city’s east side also will include Playmate Jet Bunnies.

Two other adult companies also are sponsoring parties around Super Bowl weekend. Club Jenna will hold the Vivid/ClubJenna Bowl on Friday, Feb. 3, at The Zoo Bar, while Penthouse is hosting a party on Saturday, Feb. 4, at Detroit’s Vault nightclub.

Numerous Super Bowl parties will contribute to more than $300 million in economic activity around the Detroit Area, local officials say.

The Playboy party is by invitation only, with tickets primarily being distributed to a select group of VIPs and celebrities. Online ticket brokers already are hawking passes to the party for slightly less than $2,000 a head.

Last year’s party in Jacksonville transformed a hall into an aquatic wonderland that looked much like the famed Playboy Grotto. There were body-painted mermaids and Playboy Playmates in specially designed bunny bikinis.
