Black Widow Adds Bondage Titles

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Distributor Black Widow Productions has added Society SM's line of bondage titles to its catalog.

The first two DVD titles to be distributed under the agreement, “Beauties Get Bound” and “Tied Up and Alone With Ogre,” are slated for release in February. Both will become ongoing series, with additional volumes being supplied to Black Widow on a monthly basis.

Society SM is owned by Kabneched Inc., which operates a number of BDSM-themed websites and offers content on DVD-R through the site SSMVideo.com.

Kabneched recently hired “Bad Ass” Frank Prather to direct content for its websites and oversee the creation of its Society SM DVD division with a specific goal of establishing a presence in both Europe and North America. Prather said the deal with Black Widow represents a major step toward achieving the latter.

“We had a lot of options when it came to DVD distribution,” Prather said. “I like [Black Widow President] Ric Williams a lot. I like what they're doing and who they're working with. It seemed like a good fit between Black Widow and Society SM.”

Prather said he sees Society SM products bridging a gap between hardcore bondage fans and mainstream adult audiences, “Not because we’re a softer side of bondage. Quite the contrary — we’re very hardcore. But it’s the quality of our product and the beauty of our models that really make us stand out in this arena.”

Prather said a number of elements are necessary to achieve the desired end result, including custom-designed sets, a crew who are skilled at rigging elaborate rope work to create stunning visuals, expert lighting technicians and models who feel comfortable and safe at all times.

Black Widow’s head of sales, Lisa, said that the addition of Society SM's titles gives the distributor a broader range of titles to offer their buyers, especially those with a need for quality BDSM offerings.

“With more adult consumers becoming more aware of the product that's out there, they're also more comfortable with buying fetish titles,” she said. “It's not enough for distributors and stores to offer [just any fetish] titles. They also have to be well-produced.”
