Feminist Porn Awards Adds New Event

TORONTO — The Feminist Porn Awards adding a third event to this year’s show called the Public.Provocative.Porn: Amateur Night.

The night is a showcase of new pornographers showing short movies and will be held on April 8 at the Bloor Cinema in Toronto.

Good For Her said it wanted to add this night for a couple of reasons.

“First, at Good For Her, we think that one of the best things that the Feminist Porn Awards does is create community, and we wanted to be able to do that for filmmakers who are just starting their smutty journeys. It is also amazing that the Feminist Porn Awards are able to expose so many people to uplifting and revolutionary porn, and there are a lot of people out there who have amazing things to offer audiences, but very few venues to show off their work.”

The Feminist Porn Awards are still accepting nominations until Feb. 15.

In order to be considered for a Feminist Porn Award, submissions must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • The work depicts genuine pleasure, agency and desire. These movies may also include a focus on connection, communication and collaboration between the performers and/or between the performers and filmmakers.
  • The work expands the boundaries of sexual representation on film, challenges stereotypes and presents a vision that sets the content apart from most mainstream pornography. This may include depicting a diversity of desires, types of people, bodies, sexual practices, and/or an anti-racist or anti-oppression framework throughout the production.
Four DVD screener copies of each work to be considered should be mailed to:
