Playboy's iPad App Actually Will Be a Web Page

HOLMBY HILLS, Calif. — Hugh Hefner got it wrong: There will be no uncensored Playboy in the App Store.

Earlier today, the Playboy founder tweeted, “Big news! Playboy – both old & new – will be available on iPad beginning in March.”

He even continued through the day, tweeting,“Yes, all the back issues of Playboy will be available on iPad, & current issues as well" and “Playboy on iPad will be uncensored.”

But the truth is the 'Playboy iPad app' will actually be a web page as a way to avoid Apple's app restrictions.

The content, formatted by Bondi Digital, the same company that worked on another online Playboy venture, will offer some Apple characterizations like pinch-to-zoom and scroll.

Playboy hasn't announced pricing or terms for its new iPad web page announced by Hefner.
