"I'm excited to have this opportunity," Wylde said. "It's like walking out of the shadows and into the sunlight. It's my time to shine."
Wylde, who directed his first title more than a decade ago at the age of 21, said his approach to making porn is simple: Focus on strong production values and high-quality talent.
"Try and revolutionize a genre oversaturated with truly perverted directors who push the envelope every day — that's a tall order," Wylde said.
While he is a film school graduate, he credits his style to adult industry legends like Mike Cates and Tom Byron. He added that his industry icons include his former boss, Elegant Angel owner Patrick Collins, as well as Evil Angel owner John Stagliano.
"Zak shows a lot of potential," said Sin City general manager Scott Justice. "We're all excited to see what he comes up with."
Wylde’s first title for Mayhem will be “Toys For Twats,” slated for a late March release.
