Japan has a history of sexual games in which the player is surrounded by a number of beautiful females to woo and enjoy sex with. Usually known as "hentai games" by U.S. fans, dating-sims are extremely popular in Japan. Yaoi is an incredibly popular genre related to Japanese animation, translated as "boy's love," which focuses on relationships between male characters. Yaoi anime and manga previously were licensed for sale outside of Japan, but “Enzai” marks the first yaoi PC dating-sim to be ported. The game is translated into English and is completely uncensored.
"There was a huge flap last year about sex in video games with 'Hot Coffee,'" JAST USA founder Peter Payne said. “Doing yaoi games is frankly a new direction for us. But we were bowled over by the passion of the many yaoi fans who came to us at anime conventions and begged us to bring out ‘boy’s love’ games in English."
