Smash Pictures Grabs 2 AEBN Award Noms

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Smash Pictures announced today that it has been nominated for two AEBN VOD Awards.

The company ‘s feature film, “Friends and Family” grabbed nomination honors for Best Feature and “Bus Stop Girls” got the nod for Best Overall title.

AEBN said the nominees are selected by the viewing habits of the millions of fans who visit the company's global network of theaters, through the VOD Awards. Nominations are based on minute sales in the theaters in one calendar year and decided upon with a precise, in-house accounting system.

This marks the awards’ sixth year and now includes several new genres that have been added to reflect recent trends in the industry and to assure that the best films are honored.

Commenting on the honor, Smash Pictures Vice President Stuart Wall said, "AEBN is the king of the VOD market worldwide and when we were notified of these two nominations our hard work paid off. In today's economy to stay above water you have to take pride in the movies being made. With all the competition out there each title has to have something unique to differentiate your product from the next.”

He added, “The days in simply having two people have sex are over. We go that extra mile in making unique theme uniforms for the cast and more. With ‘Bus Stop Girls’ we rented a full size bus and shot on a remote campground resort and with ‘Friends & Family’ we chose to do our version of a taboo theme and it paid off."

AEBN said that all nominated titles are featured on its newly updated VODAwards website.

The winners will be announced at the beginning of 2011.
