Vouyer, who left Red Light District in November, was pleasantly surprised when he discovered Orenstein wanted to enter the gonzo market and push the hardcore line like only a seasoned veteran could.
“To keep doing what I love to do, I had to leave,” Vouyer told XBiz. “The partnership with Steve came at the perfect time.”
Per the agreement, Orenstein will focus on sales and marketing for the new company, while Vouyer will handle all of the production tasks, including artwork, ads and “anything else that’s got to do with getting the films out the door.”
With plans to release the company’s first film in February, Vouyer said this year’s AEE was a new experience for him because he was there strictly to promote his new venture.
“I didn’t make any deals apart from sales deals at the show because that’s all we can make at this point,” Vouyer said. “[But] our sales guy was working very hard and all of our customers were very receptive to what we were doing.”
Currently, Vouyer Media is scheduled to release two films a month for the first six months, and already has hired adult film veteran Tim Von Swine, who Vouyer knew during his RLD days, to help direct some of the films.
Vouyer told XBiz that the new company would be run with the same kind of professionalism that has earned Orenstein no small share of respect in the industry.
”I’ve known Steve for nearly my whole career,” Vouyer, who has been in the business for more than 13 years, said. “He’s got a great reputation for being the straightest guy in the business. Sometimes it’s hard to find straight up people in this business.”
