Playboy TV Launches in Taiwan

LOS ANGELES — Playboy announced Wednesday that it has launched Playboy TV in Taiwan in both HD Video-on-demand and IPTV platforms.

The adult entertainment giant said the 24-hour channel will be commercial-free, airing in English with Chinese subtitled characters.

Playboy said it partnered with Taiwan Chunghwa Telecom MOD to add the HD VOD programming in Taiwan. Subscribers can order the channel a la carte or as an add-on channel to Chunghwa's "Family Pack."

Playboy TV in Taiwan will include American Playboy fare, as well as Asian-oriented programming including "Asian Erotica" and "Shadow of a Geisha."

"We are thrilled to partner with Taiwan's preeminent telecom company to bring Playboy TV to the world's most highly penetrated cable and satellite market," said Steve Smith, executive vice president and managing director of Playboy TV International.

"Playboy TV is the world's leading producer of erotic entertainment, and we're proud to offer Taiwan consumers the most quality programming for adults available in the marketplace."

Playboy made the deal through its Playboy TV International unit, which partners branded networks in France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Israel, South Korea, New Zealand, Poland, Scandinavia, Australia and Turkey. The company airs programming airing in more than 150 countries and territories worldwide.
