3D Expanding Into Consumer Camcorders, Cameras

LOS ANGELES — Following the wave of 3D TV releases since January’s CES, electronics manufacturers are introducing 3D camcorders.

Panasonic’s HDC-SDT750 3D camcorder features a 3D conversion lens that attaches to the camcorder’s mount, providing two optical paths that pass through a single lens, CNET reports.

Panasonic said it expects to ship the HDC-SDT750 in October for $1,399.95.

According to CNET, Panasonic’s 3D camcorder now has a competitor. DXG’s $599.99 pistol-grip dual lens 3D Pocket Camcorder, which comes bundled with its 3D 7-inch Media Player, is set to ship Aug. 6.

Panasonic also is developing two other 3D camcorder models, including one with a 3D Micro Four Thirds-mount lens that features two sets of lenses into the space usually occupied by one optical path, which is expected to also debut this month, reports say.
