Kick Ass’ Carey Named ‘Bimbo of the Year’

WASHINGTON — She dined with the president, got arrested and farted on basic cable. Now, Kick Ass contract star Mary Carey has another 2005 benchmark to add to her list: She has been named Bimbo of the Year.

Carey was one of 10 famous people selected for the dubious award, created by Merrie Spaeth, former White House media relations director under President Reagan to recognize “dumb public comments made during the year.” The winners are listed on Spaeth’s website.

Carey lands at No. 3 on Spaeth’s list. However, a press release issued by Speath naming the winners doesn’t point to any one specific comment from Carey, but contains several quotes from both Carey and Kick Ass owner Mark Kulkis.

“We're not the freakish demons people make us out to be,” Kulkis is quoted as saying. “I'm not a creep with a coke spoon around his neck.”

The press release also contains a link to a story in which Carey talks at length about the presidential dinner she and Kulkis attended earlier this year, but does not call out which comments Spaeth found worthy of Bimbo status.

"I'd like to talk to [the president] about issues like freedom of speech and the crackdown on the adult industry,” Carey says, adding, “God reads my heart. I'm a good person. I think I have more morals than the politicians in office. I don't rob, steal, hurt, or lie — a lot of politicians do that."

Nowhere does Spaeth mention Carey’s widely publicized appearance on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, during which she said she enjoys spending time with Republicans because, “I just think Republicans are very, very wealthy people. And if I want to be wealthy and powerful I should hang out with them. If you play with cripples you start to limp. So I don't want to play with cripples anymore. I want to be up with the NBA players, you know, which is Republicans.”

Carey also passed gas during the interview.

Other Bimbo Award winners include baseball star Rafael Palmeiro, indicted Tyco CEO Dennis Kozlowski and celebrity sex tape heiress Paris Hilton.
