Corbin Fisher Wins $990,000 Judgment Against Alleged Pirate

SAN DIEGO — Gay adult studio Corbin Fisher was awarded a $990,000 judgment by a federal court over the Texas entrepreneur who allegedly burned 66 Corbin Fisher videos to DVD, later selling them on eBay. .

Corbin Fisher general counsel Marc Randazza told XBIZ last month that the San Diego studio got a tip about the content being sold on eBay and engaged “in some good old-fashioned detective work to track down the culprits.”

Company officials later ordered DVDs on eBay using PayPal and personal checks.

The near-million-dollar judgment held defendant A.D. Trice liable for $15,000 in statutory damages for each of the 66 individual CorbinFisher.com videos he infringed upon.

Trice faced a potential liability of $9.9 million, but the studio reduced his liability by about 90 percent “due to his cooperation and contrition in the case.”

"The court recognized our right to protect the material we produce, and this judgment reflects that," Randazza said.

Although the case against Trice is over, the case itself continues. Pittsburgh resident Eric Brown allegedly ran his own counterfeit DVD operation and has been named as a co-defendant in the case.

Corbin Fisher said it was seeking an even greater judgment against Brown.
