Vivid Moves Forward With ‘Shauna Sand Exposed’ Distribution

LOS ANGELES — Shauna Sand has agreed to not pursue a lawsuit against Vivid Entertainment over the distribution of her sex tape. “Shauna Sand Exposed” features explicit hardcore footage of the Playboy Playmate and will be released Wednesday.

While Sand initially disputed that Vivid had the rights to the footage, claiming she didn’t sign release forms, she’s agreed to withdraw a cease-and-desist letter and now will play an active role in the tape’s release.

Vivid co-chairman Steven Hirsch met with Sand last week to sort things out.

"We showed her the documents we had received from a third party that were authenticated by a handwriting expert and explained that we remained comfortable that we had the right to distribute the video,” Hirsch said. “Shauna said she wanted to consult with her attorney and would get back to us the following day."

According to Hirsch, Sand called him the next day and agreed to cooperate with the company over the tape’s release.

"I made this video with my ex-boyfriend for our own enjoyment,” Sand said. “But since Vivid obtained a copy and is moving ahead with distribution, I now feel it will be in my best interest to work with Vivid to make sure it is handled properly. I'm taking full control of this situation and that means there won't be any involvement by a third party. I'm proud of the way I look in the video. My ex-boyfriend was the cameraman, I edited it and added the music and so I have an interest in the final product."

Sand was Playboy’s Playmate of the Month for May 1996. She married actor Lorenzo Lamas, star of TV’s “Renegade,” and has three daughters with him. She’s made various guest appearances on TV and in the movies.
