Google Integrates Docs With Gmail

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Tech giant Google has integrated its document-sharing service into its webmail service in a move sure to simplify the lives of a great many adult producers and webmasters.

Google Docs gives adult industry professionals the power to upload, store and share 2257 documentation with other colleagues around the country.

To date, when users share Google Docs documents through Gmail, the recipient has been forced to open the document in a separate window or tab. No more.

Starting today, Gmail users can preview those documents directly in their Gmail inboxes. In order to enable this feature, users must click over to the Google Labs page in Gmail.

But despite the usefulness of this new feature, adult producers should be aware that Google now indexes documents in its search engine. The company announced this new change last month, alarming some adult industry professionals.

Kelli Roberts of AmateurDistrict.com told XBIZ that she may be forced to stop using Google Docs.

"I don't want our private documents, especially the 2257 stuff we were doing, spread out, especially since it could mean compromising the safety of some performers," said Roberts, who is Amateur District's head of marketing. "Clearly we don't want to find out that some insane, crazed fan showed up on the doorstep of one of the girls who performed in an Amateur District movie."
