Evil Angel Releases Comic-Inspired Vignettes on Hi-Def

VAN NUYS, Calif. — Evil Angel has released “Buttman Comics Presents … Vault of Whores,” a three-disc set shot entirely in high-definition and inspired by artist John Howard’s graphic novel style.

The movie, a follow up to last year’s award winning vignette series “Tales from the Crack,” is the first Evil Angel hi-def release. It stars Taryn Thomas, Tommy Gunn, Scott Nails, Vicky Vette, Katja Kassin and Dillan Lauren.

One disc contains the main feature in standard definition with anamorphic formatting that enhances picture quality on widescreen TVs. There also is a disc of bonus features captured entirely in hi-def, including a “making of” featurette, bloopers, casting footage and interviews. A third disc contains a Windows Media-HD version of the movie for viewing on PCs with 2.5 GHz or higher.

The vignettes in “Buttman Comics Presents … Vault of Whores” revolve around Taryn Thomas’s character Laura, a student who is a fan of adult comic books and actually travels into a comic universe.

True to the style Howard has established as a regular contributor to the company’s popular Buttman magazine, one scene has Thomas traveling to hell for sex with Gunn as the Devil.

“I think if you liked the first one [“Tales from the Crack”], you’ll love this one,” co-director David Lord said. “There are explosions, people going through tables, midgets, hot chicks and hot sex. What more could you want?”

Other vignettes are directed by Tricia Devereaux, with cinematography by Jack Remy and camera work provided by Evil Angel director Jonni Darkko and company founder John Stagliano.
