Details Magazine Chronicles Rise of Online Porn

NEW YORK — Details magazine dives into the effect Internet pornography has had on the sex lives of the current generation of teens and twentysomethings in its September issue.

“How Internet Porn is Changing Teen Sex” writer Eric Spitznagel, who co-wrote Ron Jeremy’s autobiography, makes the case that since Internet porn is so omnipresent that its influenced the real-life sexual activity of its watchers and bystanders.

Citing a study that claims 90 percent of 8-to-16-year-olds have viewed online porn, “considering the standard climax to even the most vanilla hardcore scene today, that means there is an entire generation of young people who think sex ends with a money shot to the face,” Spitznagel said.

According to Spitznagel’s article, viewing porn has definitely influenced people’s sexual mores and their activity behind closed doors.

From women receiving facials (“the real story might be the apparent surge in the number of willing participants”), to webcam action, to the recent phenomenon of “sexting,” the article makes a compelling case that we’ve become a more sexualized country, and its due in part not only to the sheer amount of content out there but also because of the public’s relaxed attitude towards sex and that porn has become “cool” to watch.

“For most men over 30, facials aren't something you actually do,” Spitznagel said. “They're like car chases or hurling someone through a plate-glass window — the difference between cinema and life. But the ubiquity of porn has blurred the line."

The article also quotes Joanna Angel whose noticed that girls shooting for her website BurningAngel.com come to the set more experienced and sexually vigorous as ever.
